Sacred Earth, Sacred Story, Sacred Conversations, 8 Month Online Series
Dates: Monday, Oct. 4; Nov. 1, Dec. 6, Jan. 3, Feb. 7, March 7, April 4, May 2.
Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm
During this 8 month online series we will draw upon the insights in John Phillip Newell’s book, “Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul”.Newell is a leading spiritual teacher and an author on Celtic Christianity, exploring earth-based spirituality to help us rediscover the natural rhythms of life and deepen our spiritual connection with God, with each other, and with the earth.
In our contemplative monthly meetings we will listen to the 9 Celtic “voices” of wisdom included in Newell's newest book and to the wisdom each of us hold.
Our sense of the sacred interconnectedness that exists with the Creator, each other and all of creation will deepen as our understanding of Celtic spirituality expands. The spiritual practice of listening to ourselves, each other and creation will enrich the discerning of our unique role in caring for our fragile, hurting world.

Fee for 8 Month: $120.00, can be paid in 2 installments, partial and full scholarships available.
A personal copy of John Phillip Newell's book, "Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul" will be necessary for this series.

Bruce McAndless-Davis is an experienced pastor serving Gilmore Park United Church in Richmond, BC. His celtic roots come from Cape Breton, NS and Newfoundland. He has received spiritual direction in the Ignatian tradition for over 25 years and has led many contemplative gatherings and retreats. Bruce has attended the School of Celtic Consciousness with John Phillip Newell and is an experienced facilitator. He believes that the Celtic Christian tradition and its practices can be important antidotes to a colonialist Christian tradition that has lost touch with the teachings of Jesus.
Marisa Farr is a clinical counsellor/therapist. Her Celtic roots stem back to when her great grandmother came over from Ireland. She feels a deep connection to Celtic and contemplative spirituality and has been practising both for many years. She enjoys facilitating a monthly book club through the Centre for Spiritual Renewal. She is committed to reconciliation and believes that reconnecting with her Celtic roots has been deeply helpful in reckoning with our past and current world. When she is not working or reading she enjoys hiking and being out in nature.
When I began reading Sacred Earth Sacred Soul, I felt a sense of profound grounding in a spirituality that is both deep and all encompassing, yet light and fluid. It's a confirmation of what I think the earth has been trying to tell us for a long time. It looks at honouring the roots of Celtic spirituality, creation, and Jesus's teachings. I am excited to dive deeper into conversations about this book and how we can live out the call to a reworking of how we interact with the earth, each other, and our faith.
