Easter continues for a handful of more weeks. This is only the 4th Sunday of the great season.
The Fourth Sunday of Easter is always dedicated to the imagery of the Shepherd. This ancient image comes to us from the hills of ancient Palestine and the people who wandered around that land for centuries caring for their flock.
As we continue our wander through the First Letter of John, we keep the image of the shepherd in our mind when we hear the words: “Let us not love in words but in our actions.”
God and Jesus as shepherd loves us in action. We know God’s love because of what God does for us.
I wonder how we show love for God.
I wonder how we show love for our neighbour.
I wonder how we show love for ourselves.
I wonder how we show love for the world.
Next Sunday is Reconciliation Sunday & Rogation Sunday. We will recall our commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous people as well as our commitment to the earth as caregivers.
At next week's service we will bless our garden. Come and help us as we ask for God's presence among us as Creator and Reconciler.
